VOX Anniversary! Ten years of Chamber Choir VOX

This anniversary is celebrated with a colorful program about nature, our source of life, peace, and inspiration, but also vulnerable in these times. We take you back to the 19th century, to the Romantic period: the time of starlight, autumnal forests, and soulful sounds. A time when music, poetry, and emotion merged into an intimate conversation between voice, piano, and silence. We present a colorful program of songs. This music doesn’t offer ready-made answers, but it does provide space to feel, to remember, to connect.

About the performers

Chamber choir VOX, founded in 2015 under the leadership of Ad Broeksteeg, is an ambitious project choir and consists of both professionally trained singers and experienced amateurs with ensemble experience from all over the Netherlands. The choir aims to perform polyphonic works at a high level.
The singers’ passion for choral music unites them into an enthusiastic and respected ensemble that aims to introduce a wide audience to lesser-known works through a colorful repertoire in various musical styles and periods.
When the program requires it, VOX collaborates with professional instrumentalists. Since October 2023, the choir has been conducted by Kees Jan de Koning.

Ben Martin Weijand is a pianist and accompanist with the Groot Omroepkoor (Netherlands Radio Choir). He studied piano as a principal subject at the Brabant Conservatory, graduating in 1984. He is also a regular guest with the Netherlands Chamber Choir, Cappella Amsterdam, the National Youth Choir, and the Brabant Choir.

Organist, harpsichordist, and conductor Ruud Huijbregts studied organ, harpsichord, and choral conducting at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg. He has been conductor/organist of the St. Catherine Church in Eindhoven since 1991 and city organist of Eindhoven since 2011.

Conductor Kees Jan de Koning first studied recorder at the Utrecht Conservatory. In 1992, he completed his vocal studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and became a singing teacher there. He forms the foundation of the renowned Quink Vocal Ensemble. He regularly sings with international ensembles such as the Huelgas Ensemble, the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, the Egidius Quartet, and the Weser Renaissance. He performs as a soloist in opera and oratorio concerts. In recent years, he has also worked as a project conductor and vocal choir coach and has been a member of the Netherlands Chamber Choir since 1992.
