About the Performers

The Brabants Youth Project Orchestra (BJPO) is a youth orchestra consisting of talented musicians aged 13 – 29 years old from all over North Brabant. The goal of the BJPO is to inspire these musicians, connect them and make them enthusiastic about wind music!.

The BJPO shows its virtuosity with the composition A Christmas Overture by Nigel Hess.

Conductor Johan Smeulders (1988) from Nuenen. Johan completed his Bachelor’s degree in “Classical Euphonium” in 2011 at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg. On July 5, 2015, Johan graduated cum laude for the Bachelor’s degree in Harmony, Fanfare and Brass Band Conducting with Mr. Alex Schillings at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

Franka van Dommelen After completing her studies in Solo Singing (cum laude) at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg and Musical Theater at the MusicAllFactory in Tilburg, Franka continued her studies with a master’s degree in Opera in Hamburg. A prestigious course where she further developed her singing and acting skills. She later completed her 2nd master’s degree in Solo Singing in Tilburg, in which she conducted research into the collaboration between conductor and solo singer.
