A la media noche
With this Christmas concert, the young women of Giocoso take you into the enchanting world of modern Scandinavian composers such as Arnesen and Gjeilo. The sound paintings alternate with Christmas carols by Bob Chilcott and Joan Szymko, among others.
Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols occupies an important place during this concert. It is a collection of songs composed especially for Christmas during wartime (1942), in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Each song has its own character: sometimes cheerful or hopeful, other times virtuoso or comforting. The texts are based on poems from the Middle Ages and the sixteenth century.
About the Performers
Women’s Choir Giocoso consists of singers in their twenties and thirties and sing a modern classical repertoire. They prefer to go to choir festivals!
For example, they were two-time European Choir Games Champions in Sweden in 2019 and won 3rd prize at CantaRode International Choir Festival in 2022
