Manifold was born from a fascination with the organ, an instrument propelled by infinite air, both uplifting and grounding.

The music is a reflection of the time in which it was created. The music strives to underline the ritual of the performance, a collective spiritual act in which audience and performers play an integral role. One cannot exist without the other.

Manifold is also a celebration of the many ways of being that exist within people and strives to uplift and connect.

About the performers

Ben van Gelder (1988) is internationally regarded as an authority on field of alto saxophone. Colleagues and critics alike praise him for his unique sound, lyricism and personal approach to composition. His music is firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, but also encompasses many other musical genres and disciplines. Visual arts in particular play a prominent role in his music practice and often serve as a framework for his writing.
