About the performer

Geerten Liefting (Nijkerk, December 1983) studied Organ, Church Music, Improvisation, Composition and Choir Conducting at the Conservatories of Utrecht, Antwerp and Rotterdam, and Improvisation and Composition.
He has been the conductor-organist of the Heilige Bonaventura Church in Woerden since August 2007, and is also assistant organist of the Grote or St. Laurenskerk in Rotterdam and vesper organist of the Dom Church in Utrecht.

As an organist, he has won first and second prizes at several major international competitions. He has performed in productions by organizations such as Festival Voor de Wind and Cultural Caravaan, and has collaborated with choirs such as the Laurenscantorij, the Ribatutta Ensemble, and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble. In 2013, he won first prize at the Hinsz Composition Competition in Kampen, where the Netherlands Chamber Choir premiered his work “Renovatio Mundi.” Geerten gives numerous concerts and composes for various ensembles.
